GROSCHOPP MOTORS AND GEARBOXES

MOTORS

Commutator motors – series, shunt, compound wound, permanent magnet
Voltages up to 250V, Speeds up to 25000rpm.

Induction motors– three phase, single phase (permanent capacitor)
The latest induction motors from Groschopp are efficient, compact and robust. They are designed for optimum efficiency and are available as housed or skeleton, fan cooled or non ventilated, and three-phase or single-phase motor.

The special system on the ventilated models ensures an accelerated heat exchange and this together with greater efficiency has enabled Groschopp to reduce all constructions by one unit size. The shape is pleasing on the eye and compact in size.

Voltages up to 500V, Available in 2, 4 or 6 pole speeds.

Other types of motor– hand held, repulsion, brushless DC/servo
Options include brakes, tachos, encoders, thermal cutout, skeleton IP00 to totally enclosed IP65W2 enclosures, plug termination, stainless steel casing.

GEARBOXES

Worm, spur, worm/spur combination
Worm, spur and worm/spur combination. Ratios up to 150,000:1. Torques up to 60Nm. Foot, spigot and flange mounting. Hollow or solid shaft.

All motors fit readily to the range of gearboxes.

Bespoke/tailor-made models are our speciality

Berger Lahr Synchronous Motors RSM range

Berger Lahr canned Motors RSM-36-63

Over the last few years we have been working very closely with Astro Motoren Germany, who is now the official global manufacturer of Berger Lahr motors.

Synchronous motors for continuous operation: BERGER LAHR can motors are Berger Lahr’s most widely used AC synchronous motors in the small to medium power range. They are manufactured in several sizes and electrical versions and run directly on the 50/60 Hz mains supply.

Overview of the original BERGER LAHR can motors currently available from Mondside – these motors are newly manufactured:

  • BERGER LAHR RSM 36/8 FG
  • BERGER LAHR RSM 42/8 FG
  • BERGER LAHR RSM 51/12 FG
  • BERGER LAHR RSM 51/8 FG
  • BERGER LAHR RSM 51/6 FG
  • BERGER LAHR RSM 63/8 FG
  • Further designs and
    individual requirements on request

Basic principle of designation: RSM XX/Y:

  • RSM = Rotating Synchronous Motor. This is the series designation for compact, pole-changing synchronous motors from Berger Lahr.
  • XX = Size / housing diameter in millimetres (rounded).
  • Y = Number of poles (number of magnetic poles on the rotor).
  • XX = Size / housing diameter in millimetres (rounded).
This directly determines the rated speed of the motor at a given mains frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz).
  • Example BERGER LAHR RSM 36/8
Size 36 mm, 8 poles, 375 rpm, remarks: Very compact design, ideal for precision engineering applications or device automation
  • Example BERGER LAHR RSM 51/8
Size 51 mm, 8 poles, 375 rpm, remarks: medium size, universal application, frequently used in laboratory and medical technology
  • Example BERGER LAHR RSM 51/6
Size 51 mm, 6 poles, 500 rpm, remarks: medium size, higher speed with the same housing and lower torque

  • Further information
    • Defined performance data: These types each represent defined performance data (increasing dimensions and torque reserves).
    • With and without gearbox: From the factory, variants with and without gearboxes were available; the modular concept allowed a precisely tailored selection for different load cases and installation situations.
    • Power & torque (typical): depending on size, torques from the lower to medium cNm range; designed for continuous operation synchronised with the mains (S1), robust bearings and constant speed without complex control.
    • Typical applications: Actuators in measurement and control technology, access systems, metering pumps, label dispensers, conveyor elements, laboratory and process equipment – wherever uniform, reliable rotary motion with manageable torque requirements is needed.
    • Industrial significance and availability: The RSM series RSM 36/8, RSM 42/8, RSM 51/8, RSM 63/8 is considered the best-known and most widely used synchronous motor family from BERGER LAHR. In addition to standard versions, special variants are also available (e.g. with brakes, gearboxes, special shafts/connections).

IP65 to IP69 Groshopp Motors and Gearboxes- Food Industry

Groschopp Sila-Coat

Mondside Ltd are proud to be the UK distributor for all Groschopp products which includes motors specifically designed for the food industry and other high hygene applications.

SILA-COAT® for the Baking Industry

SILA-COAT® is an advanced electrolytic immersion coating applied in several controlled steps to create a highly uniform, smooth, and hygienic surface.
Its unique top-layer mesh structure ensures exceptional consistency, making it ideal for applications where cleanliness, durability, and food-safe performance are critical.

One of the key advantages for the baking industry is that SILA-COAT® can be applied evenly to complex machine components, including hollow sections, tight clearances, and hard-to-reach areas that traditional coatings often miss. This ensures:

  • Reduced product contamination risks

  • Improved cleanability of drive components and housings

  • Enhanced corrosion and wear resistance in high-moisture or flour-dense environments

  • Longer service life of motors, gearboxes, and mechanical assemblies

  • Stable performance under frequent washdowns

SILA-COAT® is therefore particularly suitable for equipment such as:

  • Conveyor drives

  • Dough mixers and dividers

  • Proofing and cooling systems

  • Ovens with high thermal cycling

  • Cutting, portioning, and packaging systems

It provides a protective surface that supports the strict hygiene, reliability, and longevity requirements demanded by modern baking operations.
